Elegushi others get Recognition Awards as Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2022 wraps up

The recently held Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) which took place from September 7 to 9, at the Eko Hotel Lagos, wasn’t just a fashion show, it was also an amazing display of cultural heritage. Held in collaboration with the Lagos Fashion Fair, and Toyin Lawani Masterclass, the well-organized show, amidst cultural display, featured an impressive number of emerging and established designers who brought the runway to live with collections laced with western, cultural, and traditional vibes.

This year’s edition had a new dimension to it as some fashion-forward stakeholders were awarded special recognition awards, for their contributions to the fashion industry.
Amongst the recipients of the awards were royal father Oba Saheed Elegushi (King Gucci), mama Nike Davies-Okundaye, designer Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, Kelechi Amadi -Obi among others. Presenting the awards to the recipients, 1st lady of Kwara state and grand matron of AFWN Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrasaq thanked Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, founder of AFWN for providing the platform to promote our creative minds and giving them a chance to show the world their ingenuity, while promoting our culture. Identity and heritage.

The event had in attendance dignitaries and special guests from all works of life, including royal fathers led by the Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja the 11, Dr. Erelu Abiola Dosumu, Oba Saheed Elegushi, Biola Okoya amongst others.
