Africa Fashion Week London 2026 celebrated African fashion, culture and creativity at the Grand Hotel on Northumberland Avenue, opposite Trafalgar Square.

The 16th edition combined an exhibition market with a vibrant runway programme, bringing together designers, exhibitors and industry professionals from Africa and the diaspora. Exhibitors showcased Adire, Aso Oke, Kente Akwa Ocha, various clothing, shoes, bags and jewellery, connecting brands with international customers and new markets.

The runway featured established and emerging designers, including Mary Martin London, Soboye, Tote London and talents from the Manchester school of Arts, British Council’s Creative DNA showcase, such as Dimeji Ilori, Joan Jade and Atieno and more.

The Lesotho contingent brought distinctive cultural identity, while Iconics Clothing, Thethana, BKDY, Ajibike and House of Estree presented contemporary takes on sustainability, colour and heritage fabrics.

Kwara State First Lady Olufolake Abdulrazaq praised founder Olori Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi and her team for sustaining AFWL and creating opportunities for African designers. She later joined BKDY on the runway.

Music and beauty added to the event, with Seyi Shay performing and Yemi Alade launching Yem Beauty, AFWL 2026’s official beauty partner, with Zephans & Co.

Beyond the glamour, AFWL reaffirmed its role in developing Africa’s fashion ecosystem. Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi highlighted the platform’s support for designers, artisans and creatives, as well as educational partnerships with Winchester School of Art and Manchester Metropolitan University.

With its focus on heritage, craftsmanship and sustainability, AFWL 2026 showed how African fashion can create global opportunities while preserving culture and nurturing future talent.
