Veekee James Unveils Her Humble Beginnings in Short Film “From Ajegunle To Forbes”
Veekee James has never shied away from sharing her inspirational story. The top Nigerian fashion designer, whose creations are bringing Nigerian fashion to the global stage and who is on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, has produced a short film titled “From Ajegunle To Forbes.”
It follows her life from her humble origins in Ajegunle to quitting school and starting her design career in her mother’s living room. “This one’s for every person out here with a DREAM…” Veekee James declares.
Veekee James has risen to prominence, motivated by a desire to make her mother proud. She currently creates for celebrities for a variety of events, including weddings and big award presentations.
She developed amazing designs for fashion luminaries including as Osas Ighodaro, Toke Makinwa, Uche Montana, Funke Akindele, and Tomike Adeoye at the recent Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs).
Impressively, BellaNaija Style named four of these designs on their “Best Dressed” list. Veekee James’ ability is receiving international attention. CNN’s African Voices Changemakers recently profiled her alongside Andrea Iyama, showcasing them as two Nigerian fashion designers who are altering the global industry from Nigeria.
