AFWN 2024: To Celebrate Ten Years of Elevating African Fashion, Culture, and Creativity
The 10th anniversary of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) 2024 is approaching, and it’s set to be a magnificent 3-day event celebrating African fashion and culture. Mark your calendars for December 6-8, 2024, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. This significant edition will highlight African creativity, innovation in fashion, and AFWN’s influence on the global fashion scene during the past decade.
Day one, December 6, begins with the much-awaited Young Designers Competition, where promising designers will contend for the grand prize: an all-expenses-paid trip to showcase their work at Africa Fashion Week London 2025. This competition is part of AFWN’s dedication to discovering and nurturing new talent, offering young African designers a global platform to display their creations.
On Day Two, December 7, established designers from various African nations will display their collections, featuring a special appearance by designers from Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) this year. For the first time, these designers will bring their creations to Lagos, providing Nigerian fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy the finest of African fashion from the UK runway, right here in Lagos.
A notable highlight of Day Three, December 8, is a glamorous runway show in collaboration with Elizabeth Miller PR’s Luxury Hearts Fundraiser, an esteemed charity event aiming to support local orphanages. The runway will feature Her Excellency, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State, joined by a prestigious lineup of governors’ wives, celebrities, and influencers. This spectacular event will merge fashion and philanthropy, making it an unforgettable finale for the 10th-anniversary celebrations.
AFWN 2024 is honored to announce L’Oréal as the official hair sponsor, guaranteeing that every model and participant exhibits the best in beauty and hair styling. L’Oréal’s dedication to fostering African fashion and creativity amplifies the anticipation for this year’s exceptional event.
This 10th-anniversary edition is not merely a fashion celebration but an acknowledgment of African innovation, creativity, and influence on the global stage, said Queen Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Founder of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria and Africa Fashion Week London. “We eagerly anticipate bringing AFW London designers to Lagos for the first time and collaborating with Elizabeth Miller PR Agency for the Luxury Hearts Fundraiser, making this edition even more significant.”
AFWN 2024 will also showcase a cultural exhibition, a fashion marketplace, and ample opportunities for attendees to immerse themselves in African fashion. The event will attract fashion enthusiasts, buyers, and industry stakeholders from all around the continent and beyond.
