Africa Fashion Week London and Nigeria (AFWL & AFWN) are transforming the fashion industry through their commitment to empowering Nigerian youth. By providing a global platform for young creatives, AFWL & AFWN aim to showcase talent, offer financial opportunities, and give valuable training and mentorship to Nigerian designers.
Founded in 2011 by Queen Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, AFWL’s mission is to cultivate the next generation of fashion leaders, drive economic growth, and preserve Nigerian cultural heritage. Through workshops, masterclasses, and professional advice, young designers can improve their skills and expand their businesses, creating employment opportunities.
AFWL & AFWN also provide access to job opportunities, connecting young designers with potential clients, financiers, and business partners. By celebrating and preserving Nigerian culture, the initiative aims to instill a sense of pride and ownership in young people, inspiring them to express themselves through fashion.
Over the years, AFWL & AFWN have inspired and supported young designers in launching their own businesses, promoting innovation and creativity in the fashion industry. By empowering young people to take pride in their work and express themselves through fashion, the initiative aims to boost their self-worth and confidence.
AFWL & AFWN are creating a vibrant community of young designers, models, and business professionals, offering a supportive platform for the next generation of fashion leaders to thrive. This year’s edition of Africa Fashion Week London will take place on October 11-12 at the Kensington and Chelsea Conference and Events Centre, Hornton Street, London, continuing to inspire creativity, drive economic growth and job creation, and preserve African cultural heritage.
